Downtown Bangor Hosts Two Volunteer Days in May
Bangor, Maine – Help us keep downtown Bangor beautiful! The Downtown Bangor Partnership will host two all-ages volunteer days in May.
Downtown Clean Up Day – Saturday, May 2
On Saturday, May 2 volunteers are needed for general clean-up of downtown and assist in removal of the holiday lights along the Hannibal Hamlin parkway and Main Street. The Downtown Bangor Partnership would like to thank Katahdin Trust Company for their generous support of the winter lights throughout the parkway and along Main Street this winter.
Big Dig Day – Saturday, May 16
Saturday, May 16 is the second annual “Big Dig,” a day for Adopt a Garden volunteers to come together, plant their gardens, and dig into downtown. Volunteers attending the “Big Dig” should bring all of the tools, plants, and items necessary to create their gardens. The Adopt a Garden program has seen tremendous success with all 90 sites adopted in just four days. This community involvement initiative allows individuals, families, and groups of all sizes to adopt and plant garden spaces throughout the downtown district.
Both events will begin at 9 a.m. and volunteers can meet at the entrance of Norumbega Parkway (Central Street side). Event details can be found at www.downtownbangor.com. For more information, please contact Caitlin Brooke at firstname.lastname@example.org or (207) 992-4234; registration is not required to participate in either volunteer day.
The Downtown Bangor Partnership promotes and markets activities that enhance the distinctive identity of Downtown Bangor, encouraging retention and growth of commercial, residential, and cultural life within the downtown district.
