TimeOutAs we approach National Time Out Day, Denise Hebert-Cloutier RN, BSN, CNOR and the Director of IntraOperative Services here at St. Joe’s speaks about the importance of Time Out Day …

“Time Out Day was created by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) in 2004 to raise awareness about the importance of requiring the entire surgical team to pause before all invasive procedures to communicate as a group and confirm key information about the patient and procedure to help prevent errors from occurring. When a “time out” is called, we are confirming correct patient, correct procedure, correct surgical site and other important information before every operative and/or invasive procedure.
Taking a “time out” is an important step in the process and we take the step seriously and understand the importance of it. Our patient’s are out first priority and we take pride in making sure we do the very best for our patients all the time.
We are celebrating “National Time Out Day” since this is a perfect time to let people know you are committed to patient safety.”
