March is National Nutrition Month. St. Joe’s Registered Dietitian and Nutritionist Julie Hovencamp visited the WVII ABC 7 TV station today to chat with Craig Colson about the importance of good nutrition.
Over 11% of Maine’s adult population has diabetes. Nearly 30 million people in the U.S. — or 1 in 11 — have diabetes. Diet is a crucial tool for managing the disease, and weight loss can help people who are overweight prevent Type 2 diabetes. Prevention is particularly important when you consider that diabetes brings complications such as high blood pressure and cholesterol, plus increased risk for heart attack and stroke, kidney disease and blindness.
At St Joe’s Diabetes and Nutrition Center patients get the information and care they need to manage their condition. To connect with Julie and the Diabetes and Nutrition center you can call 207-907-1000.
