Dr. Pattavina is Maine Medical Association President

pattavina_Congratulations to Charles Pattavina MD, FACEP, medical director and chief of Emergency Medicine at St. Joe’s. He was installed as President of the Maine Medical Association (MMA) on September 10.

Prior to joining St. Joseph Healthcare, Dr. Pattavina worked for more than 20 years in emergency medicine at Brown University, Providence RI, including ten years as director and chief of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Miriam Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Brown. He has served on the national board of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). In 2010, Dr. Pattavina was the singular recipient of the ACEP’s James D. Mills Award for Outstanding Contributions to Emergency Medicine.

The MMA is comprised of nearly 4,000 physicians, residents and medical students in Maine. Its mission is to support Maine physicians, advance the quality of medicine in Maine, and promote the health of all Maine citizens. It was founded in Brunswick, Maine in 1853.

The organization is one of 50 state medical societies that make up the American Medical Association.
