Below are a few events for some Friday Fun with the whole family!

Ready Readers Book Club at the Maine Discovery Museum

Welcome friends to our Ready Readers Book Club! Children ages 3-5 are welcome to participate in our morning reading time and stay for fun activities designed to inspire an early love for reading.

Clay Play at the Maine Discovery Museum

Put on a smock and get ready for creative clay and dough work.  We have special tools, rollers, pounders and presses to exercise little hands.  Help your child build fine motor muscles, creative expression and leave the mess with us!  Try out new, innovative clays and dough every week and take home recipes to make your own.   More info on Clay Play can be found here.

This activity is recommended for ages 2+ and is included in your regular museum admission.

Basic Knitting for Kids

Kids up to age 12 are invited to spend chilly afternoons learning to knit in the Blue Hill Public Library’s cozy Larchwood Room with instructor Carrie Marks. This is an eight week knitting class, on Fridays from 4:00 to 4:45 PM, starting November 18th and going through January 6th. The workshop is free but registration is required, and can be done on the library’s website at, or by calling the library at 374-5515.

Knitting Social at the Brewer Public Library

Come to the Brewer Public Library for our weekly knitting social. Bring your own yarn projects of any sort and socialize in our comfortable conference room. Experienced or new knitters, crocheters, or needle-workers welcome!

Enjoy great live music, high energy atmosphere, great exercise and meet people!

Fun for all ages in a chem-free, clean, healthy friendly environment!

Beginners’ session at 7:30, dance at 8 p.m.

$8/person, $4 age 6-12, $20/family
