Don’t let the January blahs get you down; there’s always fun stuff to do around Maine on weekends, even in winter! Here’s a sampling:
Basketball fans will enjoy the UMaine vs Vermont matchup this Thursday at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
Ski, or learn to ski right in our back yard at Hermon Mountain. They’re closed today (Wednesday) because of the overnight weather, but they are busy getting things ship-shape for the weekend! Like to schuss sitting down? There’s tubing, too (but check the website…the tubing area is closed now, but should be opening soon)!
Think antiquing is just for summer tourists? Think again. Browse the Bath Antique Sale at Bath (Maine) Middle School this Sunday, Jan. 8! Check the website for details and directions. Just 5 bucks gits ya in the doah, Deah! Unless you’re under 25 and then it’s free…kind of a reverse senior citizen discount! Yes – It’s like a museum, but you can also buy the stuff!
Stagazing is at its best in winter – the stars are the brightest and the sky is the clearest – but yikes it’s cold outside! Astronomy buffs of all ages will enjoy From Earth to the Universe, a stunning indoor virtual voyage through space and time, Friday, Jan. 6, 7 p.m. at the Emera Astronomy Center at the University of Maine. As of this posting, tickets were still available and you can get them online.
Just a sampling of the winter wonderland of activities you can find on the weekend, right here in Vacationland. Stay tuned for more!
