Hey, all you fans of weekend fun: we dug up still more great stuff to do this weekend in Maine. Here’s a sampling:
Skowhegan‘s 11th annual Maple Festival celebrates maple syrup, one of Maine’s famous “liquid gold” commodities. It’s going on all weekend, which is good to know if you can’t wait til Maine Maple Sunday, which we already highlighted in a post earlier this week. Did you Know: Somerset County is known for being the top maple producing county in the US.
Further afield, for hardy sailors and also for skipper wannabes, there’s Portland’s Maine Boat Builders’ Show at the Portland Sports Complex on Warren Avenue. 3 days of seminars and exhibits by boat builders all along the coast of Maine and New England. Check out the details here and get ready to drool.
If fantasy is more your cup o’tea, it’s time to dust off that Chewbacca costume and head down to the Island on Saturday for the annual Bar Harbor Comic Con (just be sure to throw that furry head in the backseat while driving). It features live music, artists, authors and illustrators, along with gaming, costume play and more! What fun, and for a kids’ cause. Proceeds benefit Bar Harbor’s Park Street Community Playground Project.
