Maine is gearing up for summer weekend fun (if summer ever comes)! This Saturday, June 3, down OOB way (that’s Old Ohchahd Beach, Deah!), you’ll be “kilt with the cold” as you watch performers who are “cold with the kilt” at the annual OOB Scottish Festival. Great fun for the Scottish in all of us – only 5 bucks gets you in to thrill to the music, dancing, food, artisans and more! Held at Old Orchard Beach Memorial Park.
Prefer the Hawaiian Isles to the British Isles? Closer to home, it’s the annual Belfast Uke Fest, also Saturday on the Belfast Waterfront! The day will be filled, from 10am until 6pm, with ensemble performances, headline acts, and a variety of fun and informative ukulele workshops. There will be food, refreshments, and music vendors set up throughout the event area for attendees to enjoy.
On Saturday, rain or shine it’s Brewer’s Family Fun Day, sponsored by the Penobscot County Conservation Association. It’s all free family entertainment (there is a charge for food), including Owl Education at 11 and a visit from Smokey Bear at noon. There’ll also be opportunities to take a river cruise aboard a 28-foot canoe. Where? The Association headquarters at 570 North Main Street in Brewer.
Finally, in case you haven’t heard…you will hear it…even if you don’t go…It’s MONSTER JAM all weekend long at Speedway 95, Odlin Road in Bangor. Spectator fun for all ages (except, maybe, babies…seriously). Better bring your ear plugs – the trucks are big and loud. Show schedule and ticket info here.
