Risk ManagementJune 19 – 23, 2017 is Healthcare Risk Management [HRM] Week.

Every year, the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) celebrates its profession during this week in June. This observation helps to raise awareness about the value that risk managers bring to their organizations. This week is time to show our appreciation for the work that risk management and patient safety professionals do to ensure that patients receive safe and trusted health care.

What is HRM Week? Healthcare Risk Management Week is to raise awareness about the critical role risk management and patient safety professionals play in helping to eliminate preventable serious safety events.
This year’s theme, Leading Innovation in Risk Management, celebrates the unique contributions that health care risk management professionals provide to hospitals and health systems across the country.

What are the main functions that today’s healthcare risk managers serve? Risk managers are heavily involved in the organization’s clinical, risk financing, regulatory and business issues. They possess the communication skills to interact with a variety of people under different, complex circumstances, and are the go-to professionals for many challenging situations.

Although the duties of healthcare risk managers vary among organizations, they are often called upon to communicate with patients’ families; interact with physicians and clinical staff; educate medical staff, board members and senior leadership; and help set processes in place to reduce the risk of adverse safety events.

To all those watching over the healthcare organizations we THANK you with all our might!
