Ready for a road trip this weekend? Come Down East and celebrate the plant that put Downeast Maine on the map. It’s crafts, food, entertainment, contests and all things blueberry at the Machias Wild Blueberry Festival. It all happens at the Centre Street Congregational Church in Machias, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.
For blueberries and more, you won’t want to miss the annual Union Fair, beginning its 8-day run at the Union Fairgrounds starting Saturday. As with all of Maine’s summer agricultural fairs, there’s something to please all tastes and all ages. Don’t miss it!
Weekend road races attract fitness buffs and competitive types from all over in the summer in Maine. This weekend it’s the 22nd annual Breakaway 5K down ta OOB (that’s Old Orchard Beach, to non native Maine-ahs!). Get there early; the race starts on Saturday at 7:45 am at the corner of Walnut & East Grand. There’s also a fun run for kids after the main race. Check the website for all the details.
Finally, we would be remiss without inviting you to attend our Open House at the St. Joe’s Regional Breast Care Center at 900 Broadway in Bangor this Saturday (8/19) from 10 am to noon. Enjoy refreshments and learn all about our latest technological addition: life-saving 3D mammography.
